Good idea!

Get a bus map whenever you stay in a big city. It's fun traveling by public bus and it is cheap.
In Hanoi it can be a lot of work before you achieve your goal! You need to go to the transportation department.

The Bangkok bus map is fabulous. This is a 2009 example,
sarcophagus has one from around 2002, didn't change a lot though.

Kuala Lumpur bus service is a dog without proper information. Not one bus driver seems to have a clue to where the other lines go.

Leisure & pleasure: sleeping on a train!

   So, so nice sleeping on a moving train. Never mind where you are, just let go. Everybody did on the Lao Cai - Hanoi morning train. Amazing how one seems to wake up on exactly the right moment.

              Bia hoi and the pink elephant!

 

              Bia Hoi or translated "morning brew" or "fresh brew". The beer is brewed 

              daily and is a very light refreshing lager. Maybe the cheapest beer in the 

              world. It is not controlled by any health agency. Northern Vietnam is the 

              mecca of this cheap brew which can be found on most street corners. It's a 

              light brew, only 3% alcohol.

Vietnamese coffee is excellent, and well suited for anybody with a caffeine addiction.

Sam Sen street festival is near Khao San road, Bangkok. Somewhere mid November. Excellent entertainment with dragon acrobatics. Got to love it!
